Understanding the Revealed Will of God

What if God’s will for your life isn’t as complicated as you think?

We often ask, “God, what do You want me to do?”

We want to know the next step, the right decision, and what the future holds.

But before asking God to reveal His plan for tomorrow, we should make sure we’re living out what He has already revealed for today.

Paul gives us three simple instructions in 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18:

1. REJOICE ALWAYS

“Rejoice always…”

Rejoicing doesn't mean life is always good. It means God is always good.

Circumstances change. People change. Seasons change.

But God remains faithful.

You may not understand what God is doing, but you can trust who God is.

Rejoice because God is still good.

2. NEVER STOP PRAYING

“Pray continually…”

Prayer isn't just something we do when we're in trouble. Prayer is how we stay connected to God.

Bring Him your questions.
Bring Him your decisions.
Bring Him your fears.
Bring Him your dreams.

When we pray, we're reminded that we don't have to face life alone.

Never stop praying because God is always listening.

3. THANK GOD NO MATTER WHAT

“Give thanks in all circumstances…”

Paul doesn't say to be thankful for everything. He says to give thanks in everything.

You may not be thankful for the situation, but you can be thankful that God is with you in the situation.

You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you can trust the One who holds tomorrow.

Thank God no matter what because He is still faithful.

THIS IS GOD'S WILL

Paul finishes these three instructions with something we shouldn't overlook:

“…for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Sometimes we're asking God to show us His will for the next five years when He has already shown us what He wants from us today.

Rejoice Always.
Never Stop Praying.
Thank God No Matter What.

Maybe God's will isn't always about knowing what's next.

Maybe sometimes it's simply about being faithful with what He's already told us.

Pastor’s Thought

You may not know everything God is going to do, but you can know how God wants you to live today.

So here's the question:

Which of these three do you need to practice most in your life right now — Rejoice, Pray, or Give Thanks?

Don't stop living in the will of God!
